By order of the Privy Council NEWI received Taught Degree Awarding Powers on 2nd July 2008. Also, by order of the Privy Council 'The North Wales Institute of Higher Education Corporation' became Glyndwr University/ Prifysgol Glyndwr, on 3rd July 2008.
