Eleanor welcomes Nick Clegg's invitation to public sector workers

7.09.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 10th Sep 2009

Eleanor Burnham has welcomed Liberal Democrat Leader, Nick Clegg's invitation to public sector workers to make their views known where they think taxpayers' money can be saved.

Eleanor said "The Welsh Liberal Democrats know huge savings will have to be made to bring public finances under control and the launch of "Ask the People in the Know" project seeks the expertise of those working in the public sector on how to cut out waste while protecting services.

"During these difficult economic times, the expertise of those in the know is extremely valuable. We need to listen to people with day to day experience. Just as the most effective, efficient businesses seek the views of their employees, political leaders should let expertise and real experience guide policy.

Anyone who works in the Welsh public sector can submit their ideas on where money can be saved at http://nickclegg.com/intheknow or can contact Eleanor at her Constituency Office, 67 Regent Street, Wrexham LL11 1PF, 01978 366154, email eleanor.burnham@wales.gov.uk.
